Nearly everything in psychics practice is related (more or less) to energy manipulation. By energy manipulation we understand moving, transfering and basically manipulating different types of energies, such as for example psychic energies. In my opinion in order to manipulate energy, you don’t need to know what this energy is, or what type of energy you’re manipulating.
