Creatures of the dark

On the beginning, there was Wu Chi (or “The Bold and the Beautiful” as some people tend to believe). Then, the Yin and Yang came, and they’ve created the Tai Chi, which is here and now – the world in which Yin and Yang co-exists together. Here on A State of Mind I used to talk only about Yang – the great adventure of studying psychic phenomena, the spiritual growth and self-improvement. But aside to Yang, there is also Yin – the dark side of this mysterious world. Let’s skip the part about psychic vampires (which aren’t really bad, by the way), as there are more esoterical things out there.

The Negatives

Have you ever wonder why is it that most people are afraid of spiders and snakes, almost subconsciously? It is because there are astral critters that look like spiders and snakes. Astral Critters are creatures that live on astral planes, and they’re very similar to real spiders or snakes, generally small beings like rats for example. They feed on psychic energies, and they can interact with our world if they will manage to connect with it.

Often, such astral critters known as Negatives or Negs, can enter our plane through so called portals. A portal is exactly what is sounds to be – a portal between planes, a gate through which things can enter our plane of existence. Such portals are being opened often when inexperienced people play with Oujia board – while they should not.

Negative feelings, aggression and different negative emotions can be caused by such Negs - in old days known as bad spirits, they often enter houses, create a nest in dark parts and feed on psychic energies, causing disturbances of all sort. It is important to deal with these creatures as fast as possible, before they create a problem.

A lot of defensive methods have been described in Robert Bruce’s book – Practical Psychic Self-Defence. You can also find some methods of dealing with negs in my articles about dealing with haunting.

Aggressive spirits

When body dies, spirit is free – yet sometimes, spirits do not pass to the Otherside, they do not enter the light as psychics use to say, but they remain on our plane - sometimes stuck because they’re not aware they’re dead, or they just don’t want to leave. In such cases, with time passing by, spirits become aggressive – because they also need to feed on energies.

An aggressive spirit in a house can be even worse than just a neg, because it’s conscious. It can cause very similar problems as neg can, but in much wider degree. That is why it’s very important to recognise the problem, and send the spirit away as soon as possible. To do so, should find an experienced psychic.

Demons

And there are demons – powerful entities that were never humans, and they exists on other planes of existence. Sometimes, they enter our world – through portals, or through magical means during occult rituals. Some of them are powerful, some are dangerous, all follow their own agenda. You can’t trust them, you can’t befriend with them, you can’t leave with them under one roof. They need to be send away.

To do so, you need an experienced occult practitioner – do not even try to deal with demons or your might find yourself in huge troubles. A demon that is angry can turn your life into hell on earth, and in the end, it will kill you.

I guess Supernatural isn’t that far from the truth, don’t you think? Of course, there are other things out there as well, but for now we’re just going to explore these beings :). Do you know any other evil or negative entities?

How to deal with haunting – active methods

In previous article about dealing with negs, I talked about passive countermeasures against these beings. This time I will discuss more advanced subject, dealing with negs using active countermeasures. While passive methods are used simple as precaution, active methods come in use when we know we do have a neg in our place.

Dealing with negs using active methods requires some patience and some money, because you need to buy some gear like wind chimes or herbs. But, in most cases you will need only your mind. Negs can be weak or strong, they can be a kind of astral critters that passed into our world through a portal.

A portal (also known as vortex) from lower astral planes to our world can be created by some major traumatic event, a murder or suicide, or strong negative emotions. This is an unconscious creation of a portal, but it can be also created in semi-conscious way, for example by playing with Ouija board, and in conscious way, by performing some magical rituals or working with energy. Since energy manipulation allows us to close the portal, it can also be used to open such.

Earthbound spirits are also considered by me as negs. It is because the longer the stay in our world, the less memory of earth life they have, and they become more aggressive. Add the need of feeding upon living energies of people to it, and you will get a perfect neg. Both spirits and negs can be send away, but it’s a subject for another article, for now, let’s focus on active methods of dealing with haunting.

Active countermeasures

Working with core images – core images to put it simple are the traumatic memories that are being used by negs to attach to our energy system and feed upon it. Working with core images greatly helps in lowering the possibility of neg’s attachment, yet it is more complex subject that will be discussed later.
Hypnagogic imaginery – to put it simple, those are the images you see in front of your closed eyes when falling asleep. They can be used to scare you, by showing you scary images of different sort. Fear lowers your natural psychic defences and makes it easier for neg to attach to you and feed upon your energies, therefore it’s wise to work with hypnagogic imaginery. It’s very simple, whenever you see a scary image when falling asleep, consciously change it to something pleasant, for example pink unicorns. After few minutes, you might end up with dozens of pink unicorns, but hey – the point is to turn scary images to funny and silly images, so you won’t fear them. No fear, not lowering natural defences, and then it’s harder for neg to feed :).
Analysing psychic attacks - whenever you come up under psychic attack, you need to analyse it. When does it happen, what place, what time, whose around you. One person from your envoirnment might be the source of the attack. Nope, he’s not a psychic vampire, but he got a neg attached to it, wherever he goes, the neg goes with him and the entity is using the opportunity to feed upon more people. Therefore, it’s important to analyse details about the attack and find out the source of it. You might try to run a journal of psychic attacks, writing down everything.
Breaking links and contact – when discovering who the source of psychic attack is, you might want to break the link, simple by breaking contact with this person. If it’s just yet another workmate, it won’t be a problem, but if the person is a member of the family, then it will be better to explain what might be happening to him or her, and get professional help to deal with neg attached to the person.
Running water – when you are under psychic attack by a neg, it’s a good idea to create a running water barrier around your bed. You are more susceptible for attacks when sleeping, the more protection you have during sleep the better. You can use PVC tubes to conduct water around your bed. It might look silly, but when everything else fails, it’s always a good idea to have additional line of defence.
Energy disruption – if you are an energy worker you might try to disrupt attachments to your body by quickly moving the energy up and down throughout your body. For neg, when your energy body is calm, it’s like landing a plane during clear weather – it’s simple :). But when the storm hits the airport, meaning when you begun moving your energy faster than light, then neg do have a problem keeping the attachment in place and such energy body disruptions might break the link.
Breaking paralysis – sleep paralysis is popular. In most cases, it’s related to typical body state when mind wakes up before physical body, you can’t move, you can’t breath and you the panic starts. In other cases, you might be under attack from a neg or demon, such as succubus (incubus). No matter if we’re dealing with natural state or psychic attack, there’s a way to break the paralysis, simple focus on moving the big toe in your dominant leg. For some reasons it’s the simplest part of your body to move when paralysed, so use this technique to break the paralysis – when the toe moves, the whole body will start to react normally.
Fumigating – for some reasons, since ancient times negs, spirits and demons do not like specific herbs like sage, St John’s wort, thyme etc. Burn these herbs (and others as well) in order to cleanse the house of negative energies and influences.
Percussion and noise – negs d0n’t like noises. Gongs, drums, wind chimes, all of these makes noise which is really annoying for negative entities. When you do have a neg in your place, try to use something that makes a lot of noise to get rid of this being, or at least weakens it.

Summary

The more energy the neg gets, the stronger it becomes, therefore it’s important to deal with the neg as soon as possible. If you do not think you can do this, call the expert, but if you stick with the methods above, you can fight the neg on your own, forcing the entity to leave your house once and for all. Remember, the methods above weakens the neg, the more methods you apply (mixing active and passive countermeasures), the weaker the neg becomes, at the end, he might sacrifice all the energy he got left to break all possible barriers and escape your house. As for spirits, well – the methods above can be applied, but I would suggest that you find a person capable of sending the spirit away, releasing it – in my opinion, it’s more ethical. Is my house haunted?

Before we proceed to active countermeasures regarding dealing with negs (mentioned earlier), how can we actually detect negs in our place? In other way, how can I tell if my house is haunted? It’s not as easy as one would think, and I’m sure that the ways to detect negs below aren’t perfect, but with a little dose of open, yet sceptical mind, they can be applied in order to recognise the real reason behind strange events.

Negs

Devil’s mark

(Stigmata Diabolis or Sigilum Diabolis – Devil’s Seal)

In ancient times and middle ages, Stigmata Diabolis, the devil’s marks were used to recognise witches and servants of satan. In Hebrew ancient beliefs, Dybbuk, an entity capable of “plugging” itself into human energy system and feeding this way, could be recognised by weird marks on a person’s skin. Even today, weird marks on someone’s skin are being used as clues – they do not mean the person is a witch serving the devil, rather they might be a way of informing us that there’s an entity attached to this person’s energy system. Of course, weird marks on someone’s skin might be just useless information, or they can be a serious health problem…

Astral lights and black shadows

If you’re not a sensitive person (meaning – you’re not an energy worker), you might never notice these things, but they’re there. Some people are sensitive from nature since the day they were born, and they can see – astral lights and black shadows. It is said that they’re just flashes and shadows visible with the corner of your eyes, now I do not know about astral lights, I never seen them. But black shadows looks like… black shadows :). They can be see, and they fascinates me, but let’s not miss the point here – they might represent disembodied entities in our home. Be careful, astral lights even if they are bright and sound peacefully, doesn’t mean the entity is peaceful. Once again, there’s a way to explain this phenomena in logical way, maybe you have problems with your eyes? But if different people see the same thing, then you might have problem.

There’s one more thing I want to point you – both astral lights and black shadows doesn’t necessary mean you have a neg or even a demon in your house. I can remember one specific investigation I performed, I’ve seen shadows so I was pretty sure there was an entity in the flat. As it turned out, it wasn’t a neg or a demon, but a restless earthbound spirit – pretty pissed off I must admit, as it pushed me :). But still, just a spirit.

Sudden mood changes, aggression

Some of us are aggressive people :). But if the person is peaceful whole life and suddenly he or she becomes more aggressive, even violent, then maybe some negative entity is messing with person’s mind? It’s especially visible in young kids - one moment the kid is calm, few seconds later we have things being destroyed by young demon :). Logical explanation here is: emotional problems, or even psychological that requires professional help. And don’t forget famous ADHD.

Cold spots

Cold spots are often identify with haunting. What is a cold spot? It’s a place in room that is colder than surrounding area. It might be small, or big, by energy workers it’s often identify with portals to lower astral planes from which negs originate. Negs like to hide in these places, especially if they’re dark, too! Finding a cold spot that isn’t caused by leaky windows and wind blows might suggest you have a neg, or a spirit.

Awful smells

If you have ever heard about awful smells caused by demonic activity, you’re pretty close to the truth. Both demons and stronger negs can generate awful smells of decaying meat, probably in order to scare us. If you can’t find a source for the smells, maybe it can be identify with negative presence?

Nightmares, night terros

One of the easiest way to connect to other person’s mind is to do this during sleep when the consciousness is dreaming, and subconscious is governing the body. In psychic work, it’s called “dreamwalking”. But negs and demons, and spirits too, can get into your mind while you’re sleeping, most often generating nightmares and looking for core images (we will discuss core images in future articles), causing fear in order to weaken our mind, so we’ll become easier to feed upon. Look for specific themes in your nightmares, maybe they symbolise something?

Sexual abuses

Incubus and Succubus, two negs (demons) that are know from sexually abusing both male and females. Succubus is a female, incubus is male. Most probably, this is one and single entity that changes its sex depending on human its feeding upon. Males will see beautiful woman, females will see handsome guy – at first, it’s all about good sex full of pleasure. But later, when the victim is getting weaker, the entity is stopping changing sex, appearing in it’s original form. It is said that it looks like huge worm with sucker :). Anyway, the entity feeds on energy and it even might kill the person if the energy level will drop. Famous sleep paralysis is one thing, but when you experience sleep paralysis and sex at the same time, then something is definitely wrong.

Obsessive thoughts

If you think about something you don’t want to think and it’s returning every time you want to forget about it, then it’s an obsessive thought. If you’re thinking about buying a rose for your girlfriend and you can get rid of this thought, it’s OK. But when you constantly think about killing someone, or raping a classmate, or destroying something, then it’s becoming dangerous. Watch out for these thoughts, they might not be yours… Once again, maybe you just have some mental problems, paying a visit to your doctor is never a bad idea.

Other simple things

Objects movement – when objects are moving from place to place, flying in air, disappearing and appearing randomly, it might suggest: poltergeist, spirit, neg, or demon, there’s no way to tell which one, but it’s easy to tell that your place might be haunted.
Sense of being starred at – it might suggest you have a conscious entity (even negs are conscious) watching you; as long as you aren’t paranoid. Also, sense of someone’s presence when there’s no one around might suggest an entity in your house too.
Weird animals behaviour – animals can sense spirits and other disembodied entities. Pay attention to your pets’ behaviour, it might tell you a lot.

And those are the methods of detecting entities everyone can use. Just remember to have open, yet sceptical mind. Cold spot might not mean anything on it’s own, but having a cold spot and seeing black shadows is something more than just a coincidence. Yet remember – coincidences do happen… but you don’t have to trust them :).

How to deal with haunting – passive methods

Negs, the Negatives – entities out of physical world that from time to time interact with us in mischevious ways can become a huge problem for everyone. They can cause emotional and physical pain, destroy a family or a relationship, therefore it’s always a good idea to protect oneself against these beings.

First, a reminder – what are negs? Negs (or the Negatives) are the entities from lower astral planes than can interact with our world. They are also known as astral critters and they’re something we might call astral animals of mischevious nature.

Negs are getting here to our plane for example through so called ‘portals’ which can be open while playing with ouija board.

These beings can influence someone’s mind, cause bad dreams, emotional trauma, aggression or hate towards something or someone, that is why countering the effects of negs is so important. First line of defence against this negative beings is something we called ‘passive methods’ or a slightly different ‘passive countermeasures’. Here are some of such methods.

Running water barriers – negs cannot pass through water, we can say we know this for sure. It is a common belief that water act as etheric eraser – it erases or lowers the strength of etheric (astral, psychicic) energies, weakening the negs. If you’re under attack, run to nearest water source, like river or lake, or even pass water pipes that goes underground, most probably the attack will stop.
Telluric springs – telluric spring is a natural water basin, for example lake, river, or just spring :), and we’re talking here about both above ground and underground water sources. The difference between telluric spring and normal water basin is that telluric springs accumulates water charged with positive psychicic energies, and positive energies interact with negative ones, weakening them. Some people belief such telluric water can even help with demonic possession. You might look around your neighbourhood or find a dowser to help you find telluric springs near you.
Feng Shui fountains or Japanese water sculptures – we stick with water. Feng Shui fountains or Japanese water sculptures should be used inside house, preferably right in front of an entrance, so the water stream points to the doors, stopping negs from entering the house. If you want, you can include such fountains or sculptures when designing your garden, making it really oriental or ‘zen’, if would be very useful not just against negs, but also if you’ll want to spend some time and relax, and get rid of negative emotions.
Using salt – salt is another etheric eraser. Normal table salt is enough, it can be used as a barrier, by pouring lines of it across the doorsteps or under windows. You can pour a circle of salt, or put it into bags, and place them in cardinal points of the house. Each week, you should change the salt for fresh.
Holy water – another water method, holy water is a normal water blessed with magical means. You can bless it on your own with magical rituals, or you can take it in bottles from local church. All you have to do with it is to place the bottles in the house. The positive energy will radiate :).
Salt and holy water – you can also take holy water to a saucer, and pour a little bit of salt into it, placing next the saucer in the room that feels ‘negative’, and leaving it to evaporate. If you do not have the holy water, normal water will work too.
Iron and steel – doors and windows decorated with iron or steel (for example horseshoe) will become unpenetrable for negs, you can use horseshoe facing up or religious symbols. It’s a common method of protecting the house against negs known since medieval ages.
Coal and charcoal – this two things absorb negative energies from surrounding area (therefore, they work like amethyst crystal). Place them on saucers in the rooms and remember to change them once a week.
Garlic – garlic contains sulphur, and it can be used as a ward. Wear it somewhere within your clothes, or place it in the house, either in rooms or above doors and windows. The use of garlic is more complex than this, but it’s a subject for another article.
Light - make sure your house is filled with light. Negs likes darkness, it makes negative energies stronger. If you have problems with falling asleep for example, turn on weak light. It works pretty well for both adults and kids.
Sound and music - playing a radio, quiet music, or even TV weakens negative energies. Classical, religious and spiritual music works the best, or even Christmas carols can be used. Use this method, as well as the above method with turning the light on if you feel something weird in your house.
Wind chimes – place them near the doors and windows, where they’ll be moved by the wind. They generates nice and pleasant sounds that weakens negs and all negative energies.

You might have notice that some methods above can be related to folk beliefs or religious rituals – it’s because the world of magic, folk, and religion interweave with each other. There are also more methods, like herbs or medicine bags, but we will discuss them another time. For now you can apply some of the methods above – some of them can be applied right now, other only when you sense something strange and negative in your house. Paranormal Activity as case study of demonic haunting

I already talked about Paranormal Activity, in previous article I mentioned that although it’s a nice watchable movie, it’s still based on fictional story, promoted as “based on real story”, even so things we’ve seen in Paranormal Activity are a great example of demonic haunting and I will use the movie as the very first case study on A State of Mind.

The beginning…

(WARNING: movie spoilers ahead, harsh language will apply) At first we’re learning that Katie and Micah are hearing voices during the night, like scratches and footsteps – very first weird phenomena we can mistake with simple intelligent haunting by earthbound spirit. The phenomena could be ignored by the couple but… Katie was afraid of it, and Micah was fascinated, both of them begun to generate energies the yet-unknown entity used to gain some strength – to a moment when it was able to move the door.

The following events are based on this simple model:

Luring the couple to a photo, or pulling out Katie out of bed was meant to scare her, and generate more and more energies of fear, while burned ouija board was targeted to Micah and his sick fascination by the phenomena.

… of an end

All of this (and more) lead to moment when the entity, now surely some kind of a demon, took control over Katie’s body for the first time. It was a signal for Micah that he should stay away - but he couldn’t, he was so fascinated by the weird things going on he couldn’t resist again playing with ouija, not mentioning he kept shooting his little movie. For the demon, it was having fun at a cost of life of the couple. What was the agenda of the demon is hard to say, maybe he was taking revenge, or just a sick pleasure? I do not know the answer, nor I can speculate it, what I know is all events after taking control over Katie for the first time were leading Micah to his dead – Katie was a medium, Micah was a target, because he refused to fuck off… So he got kill.

What does this little (quite possible, yet still fictional) case study teach us? Let’s point it out:

Demons and Negs feeds on energies, whether these generated by fear or by sick fascination, it’s still the same. When the phenomena is first appearing, do not be afraid, and more than that, do not be afraid if the phenomena will go stronger – as it might, if the entity will find a way to feed itself from different source than your fears.
Never try to piss a demon up – it’s pure stupidity, like telling a religious fanatic with gun in his hand that his religion is stupid – he’ll pull the trigger as soon as he’ll be able to.
When the activity appears – call up an expert. In the movie, we got a psychic, which refused to help when he realised the demon was angry at him too, and he was getting more powerful each hour. Not all psychics are experts in demons, when troubles are getting more scary, contact a demonologist as soon as possible.
Micah triad to fix the problem on his own, but this was impossible, the man just didn’t have proper knowledge to deal with the haunting. Reading a book about types of ghosts and demons is not enough, studying the methods of dealing with such entities is a life commitment, you can’t learn things in few nights. Micah should not pretend to be an expert, nor should you – you aren’t, and if you want to be, it will take years* to become one.

Summary

Do not be afraid, do not play with fire, do not pretend to be an expert, and call an expert when you’ll need one – those are the primary things you can learn from the case study above. When dealing with Negs, it’s OK to use methods given (for example) in Bruce’s book Practical Psychic Self-Defense, but when dealing with demons – book won’t be enough, experience is needed. I just hope you will learn something from the case study above.

Playing with fire

I had the opportunity to see Paranormal Activity on the night of October 31st, and this opportunity gave me few ideas for articles, this is the first of these articles. I don’t want to talk about the movie itself, but about one of the characters – Micah, the “teaser”. Because this is what he did in the movie, he teased the demon. Or should I say “he fucked with the demon“?

Well, yes – “fucked” is a good word here. The movie itself is a paranormal fiction, but the story told by creators is happening all over the time in different places of the world, I want to discuss the attitude of Micah, as he and his attitude is representing countless people on the globe.

What Micah did? With simple words, he played with fire. He didn’t know what he’s dealing with and he tried to be a hero. Be trying to “fix the problem” on his own he teased the demon and it didn’t end very well (I won’t get into details if you haven’t see the movie yet). He gave the demon orders, he cursed it, and in some ways he invited the entity for more and more activity. I came up with cool phrase because of this:

There is a reason why I’m a demonologist, and you’re just an idiot…

Yep :). People do not become demonologists without good reasons, and more than that, they’re called demonologists for a reason. I’m not a demonologist myself yet, but I see the demonologist’ perspective: what Micah did in the movie is like playing doctor – he read few books and he think he’s an expert who can treat his illness by himself. Well, he couldn’t :P. Reading books is not enough – gaining knowledge by reading books and experience by for example visiting haunted places and working with spirits and negs is something that is required to become an expert. It’s cool to know A and B, but it won’t be any helpful if you won’t learn the interaction between A and B.

Guide-to for users

Whenever you encounter any form of paranormal activity, don’t try to study it on your own – call the experts as trying to become an expert on your own in a couple of hours isn’t very smart (not mentioning it’s not possible). Don’t tease the beings that might hide inside your home, don’t curse them, don’t order them and finally, don’t invite them for more activity i.e. by using ouija board or asking for more activity – it might not end well especially if you have a demon.

The evil is feeding on fear – fear generates tons of psychic energies, negs and demons feeds on these energies, by this they get more energy to do even more scary things. Demons aren’t here just to scare you, making you afraid is they’re way of gaining strength in order to achieve their goal – and God one knows what this goal is. If you have paranormal activity in your house, call up paranormal investigators, a psychic or a demonologist, or even an occultist, a witch or a shaman – they can help, you can’t help yourself, and know that – trying to help yourself or someone else without knowing how-to will be just stupid. So please, don’t do this…
