The end of Randi’s $1 Million Challenge – at last

After ten years, the great one million challange of James Randi is finally closing to an end. This challange, that was supposed to end only, if someone win the money, will be discontinued on March 6th, 2010 – 12 years after it was first offered. Of course, Mr. Randi will say “no one won this money, therefore psi does not exist”.

Interesting, I thought rules of this Challange say that one million is meant only for a winner of the challange, and nothing more – yet, in March 7th, 2010 – Randi’s Fundation will be able to use these money for anything they want. Cool, huh? I can see these cool Ferrari’s and huge houses (an irony)…

I’m writing about this mainly because I’ve read an interesting article about this whole “Challange” – every reader of this blog should read it – The Myth of the Million Dollar Challenge. If it’s not enough for you, I suggest you read also Beware Pseudo-Skepticism, article by Sean Connelly from PsiPog.net.

I don’t want to write everything I know about this Challange of this magician (yep, Randi is not a scientist, he’s just a magician, an ex-magician to be more correct), as you can read above article and learn everything you should know. I want to tell you, that I have a friend – he know that I’m practising psychic abilities, he know I’m interested in paranormal, yet he never asked me for proving my skills. We’re talking about coding, business, politics, but when it comes to my psychic abilities, it’s always about me saying things my friend is just thinking about :). And I like this – he don’t really care if I have some abilities or not, he is just accepting I might have them.

During “Experiment” I have learned that pseudo-sceptics will always demand proofs and evidences. As Edgar A. Shoaff said:

A skeptic is someone who would ask God for his ID card.

It’s not about me not taking the pseudo-sceptics challange here in Poland, it’s about my current understanding. Right now I’m thinking, that I don’t really care what other people think about psychics or my abilities, I don’t care if they believe them or not. It’s simple irrelevant for me now. Right now I’m saying, that none of us – psychics/psychics – should be focusing on convincing sceptics, pseudo-sceptics and normal people, but we should be focusing on developing our skills – once again, Psychic Development is the key.

It doesn’t matter if someone believe in psychic abilities or not, as long as you know you can “do things”, you’re a winner. So keep it this way, don’t fight with sceptics – practice, practice and practice.
