We all want to know if we can take chance out of the picture and create a solid state to exist in. Like a drug this is an addiction. Infact I have never taken an addiction more seriously. Like many people if I knew of a drug that could unlock that door to my psyche I would have quite a lot of issue in not taking it.

In reality it is not about wether or not we can levitate a spoon. We want to know we can protect ourselves when we are in danger, no matter what the threat.

The idea of psychic vampires came about because we are afraid of the repercutions of having such psychic abilities. We allways dream up counter defences, limits or boundries. Things that keep us safe from concequence or things that no doubt put blame elsewere when things go wrong.

When you are ready to progress, these ideas of threat will be as blinders to you. Limiting your perceptive scope. Sure the idea of protecting yourself from threat sounds great. Hey it’s half the driving force behind why we want to be psychic so bad. Unfortunatly it’s a pointless endevor. The more shields you put up the more blind and deaf you become.

Just like a child you will have to learn how to walk before you can protect yourself from what happens when you fall down. Just like a child you will have to accept that you are going to fall down and when you fall,  you are going to have to get back up.

It’s really just a matter of time before we figure out how all of this psychic stuff works. A little compitition might put us back on track even.

So where is the delay?

I am always asked questions like; where do I start?
~What do you want to learn?
“Everything!”
~Well guess what, me too.

My advice… Ask some random questions, figure out what you already know, then expand from there.

Would you like a starting point? Try these:

How deep does attraction and sexual desire go? Can you feel it when someone looks at you that way? Do some people just give you the creaps… Are they on your mind or is it that you are on theirs?

What about a person or a animal or a bug? Do you find any of those threatining? Can you pinpoint yhour fear? Is it getting bit you are afraid of? do you feel restless when a treat exists? How restless? Are there things you do not consider a treat? Do you feel the difference when comparing them?

You may have never made the connection before but what you are tapping into now is “signature” sensing.

When you use extreams you can get a better taste for the small things that allow you to tell the difference between one persons energies and anothers. Just think about it for a wile and you will see what I mean. Some things are so simple they are mearly overlooked even when they have an effect on us every day.

You see, there are people with psychic abilities and skills (beginning from simple increased sensitivity), but without technical knowledge. There are people with scientific knowledge, but without any psychic skills. There are people with vision, but without anyone willing to help them. And there are people with both psychic and technical skills, but with not enough time to do anything. People with different skills and ideas often do not know about existence of the OEC (even the OEC in current state), and they can’t learn about this fact without any coordination between OEC.

Next issue: people are lazy, they’re not willing to work if they won’t get anything in return – this is a big problem indeed. In the world today people can’t find enjoyment in process of creating something from scratch, they get everything on plate – they turn on TV and they have latest news, they check their mailbox, and they have a way to contact friends, they use google and they gain the knowledge – no hard work included, no satisfaction when you’re achieving something after many months of hard work. People can’t feel the pleasure of creation today…

No off-line groups – no face-to-face contact, no one to motivate you, no one to talk with (and believe me, talking via instant messengers isn’t the same). No place to brainstorm new ideas, to conduct experiments and research.

All of this leads us to the simple fact: when it comes to OEC, the Web should be a medium to exchange data being collected by people. Instead, it became a tool to waste your time. There’s simple no way to exchange OEC-related data in the web today, there’s no proper websites, no proper forums, and most important, no real organization, no coordination between existing websites.

Collecting data is the first step to wisdom, but sharing data is the first step to community.

People alone are collecting data. People in groups explore the collected data. Internet is a tool to share data between groups. And groups along with people are those who are creating means to share data via internet. But no one can work alone. One person can’t do 100% of the todo list, but 10 people can do 10% of the todo list each, and the task can be accomplished.

What should be done?

Creating yet another “a reborn of OEC” website isn’t the solution here. This is what I see:

1. People need to feel the passion – without it, nothing can be achieved.  Only with passion they can begun exploring this fascinating world of supernatural.
2. Then, people need to gather into groups, groups with strong offline presence, and strong online presence, to share experiences and ideas, motivate each other.
3. Groups, not single marauders, should be the “bodies” to create more complex websites (more complex than personal blog). Here are some ideas for websites. This way, the work can be easily coordinated and the things needed to be done can be shared between group members. Not mentioning the fact, that such project would bond group members together even stronger.
4. Finally, groups should find a way to establish relations between each other, to exchange “technical” experiences (how to deal with management problems for example), beginning from simple webrings, to “diplomatic” discussion forums.
5. Only then, when there are people with passion, and groups running complex projects, we can move to another step: organizing off-line conventions :).

But…

Is there a point to do anything? Wouldn’t it be easier just to look for some occult forum, grab some books and keep learning things while being alone? Or maybe it’s easier to look around for some research group like SPR, or even local paranormal investigators group? Is there a need to create something new? To be honest, I do not know if there’s a need. But I know – if you feel you would like to see something new, something that doesn’t exists yet, go for it! Do something to create something new. And if you think “the new” isn’t needed, but you would like to share things you know, then perhaps joining some local ghost hunters is the right thing to do?

On university

At first people would create small “psychic practitioners club”, “united psychics club off-line”, “the society of psychic practitioners” etc. Among these groups people would perform research and experiments, supported by “elders” :), doctors and professors who would see their opportunity to become a part of history. I’m sure they would receive some government grant to continue their development and research – it’s much cheaper to use students for research than paying the SRI :). Some time later, a new specialization would appear and people would be proud to answer “Psionic Science” when asked what do they study. Governments all around the world would support this new specialization, because it would prove to be useful in the many fields of our life.

At work

Entrepreneur would would use psychics and divinators to decide what is the best action to take for their business. Psychics would begun to join ventures, creating companies specializing in “supernatural” consulting and more commercial psychic readings. Psi-Tech would have to face competition in commercial remote viewing. Not mentioning that teaching psychic development for money would become even more profitable business than it is today :).

In military

We all know the “Stargate” program, right? Military of all nations would invest time and money into researching new ways to use psychic abilities for military purposes. Tactical Telepathy, Psychokinesis Gauntlent, Mind Control – sounds like pure science fiction but who knows what might happen? Military development would result in creating counter-measures. Companies spacializing in psychic defense would become the best place to invest your money. Everyone would want to protect their thoughts from telepaths, and company secrets from remote viewers. It would be just a matter of time before the military technology would move into private sector.

In pop culture

Being born on Universities and “psychic clubs“, this new path of psipunk would grow into popular subculture with its own clothes, speech and “geeky” rituals. There would be books, movies and TV shows about psychics, and NBC would create the “Late Night with Psychic O’coolltist” talkshow :). Oh, and of course some big company will hit the market with “The Power Within” cornflakes that “will give you the power of X-Man!“.

“The Underground”

University clubs would grow into more complex structures staying in contact with other clubs all around the world, creating the international society of skilled psychics. Clubs would change into Orders and Houses. Some of these would be good, some bad, as everything in the world, and this would lead to crimes of new kind. Because of this, Police would have to create new department of law enforcement specializing in dealing with crimes commited by psychics.

Anything else?

Well, imagine that all of this would change our small world forever, making us part of the stressed society where everyone is in rush, worrying about the future, and missing the present this way. Hmm, it’s just a speculation, but would you like to live in such world I described? Personally, I would not…

We already have Harry Potter for magic, Twilight for vampirism, but psychics? How can this be, that despite my searches, I can’t find any good book or TV show with psychics instead of vampires? ;) Let’s be honest, no book or TV show like this ever hit the mainstream media. I’m asking – why? It’s a huge niche to write fascinating action/adventure story, with elements of mysteries, conspiracies, government psychic warrior programs, and all that’s really needed is a good writer. Therefore, here’s the idea – someone could fill this niche, and finally write some good psychics-related novel.

We are not heirs of ancient culture, nor any super powers are included in our life (so no X-Man here), but the variety of topics for such novel is huge! To mention the few: ancient Atlantis, ghosts and spirits, astral planes, out of body experiences, life after death, secret government psychic research (can you feel this atmosphere of secret Russian cold war research facility in Siberia?), even elements of wicca and runecasting :). Merge all of this, put elements of conspiracy, friendship and psychic community, create the good guys and bad guys, don’t forget about some huge library with tons of books as one of story locations, include some love theme et voila – action/adventure novel for the youth!

Can you think of a better way for promotion than a novel showing the world in our eyes? So, any writer out there? If I wouldn’t be so crappy about writing plot-based stories, I could do this myself, but I really prefer to live it to professionals – but know, that I will be happy to help any writer willing to write such novel and I will be happy to act as a consultant for free :).

Sometimes when I’m relaxing, sitting alone in the dark, listening to the quiet of the night, I’m thinking: if the OPC would be an Off-line Psionic Community, what would it look like? Two years ago I thought that people would look like taken from some cyberpunk movie, you know: long black leather coats, implementation of advanced technology and huge “against the system” underground movement ;). Today I think they will look more like this.

Or at least something between Steampunk and Cyberpunk and Daniel Jackson from Stargate :P. People who glorify mind development, knowledge and books, yet who don’t hesitate using advanced technology for their own advantage. As for more material attributes, crystal jewellery and customised moleskine notebooks (you can’t customize weapons, so you have to customize your source of knowledge, yay!), with a little bit of RPG philosophy (have you ever played an off-line RPG?). Honestly, if I would have proper budget to spent I would create a mix of Matrix, Steampunk, Stargate and Indiana Jones on my own ;).

And for all of those screaming “fluff!” Yep, I know this ;).

It’s about mind

We’re back on Earth, as psychicic practitioners are you need is your mind, some clothes and psychicic journal, nothing more ;). But if you want, you can implement some of the ideas mentioned above, but don’t push too much, or you will end up like me. Really, even if I’m talking “simplify, simplify, simplify“, I’m applying this rule to everything except “supernatural” gadgets – therefore I do have a moleskine I’m customizing, a collection of amethysts, huge amethyst pendant, a 50-years old pendulum, ceramic runes (in a black leather bag), magnifying glass and a lot of other stuff ;). Not mentioning collection of books about paranormal and psychic phenomenon.

Yet even if I would really love to see such subculture, I recognise that psychics is like running – all you need is some clothes and shoes on your feet and you can run a marathon. But we can’t always act like Volcans, right? Maybe someday somewhere people will start organizing psychic conventions on which people will not just discuss the knowledge, but will also relax by presenting customized clothing and moleskines? Oh, it would be great!

The process of going off-line

Right now we can just sit and dream about future, still I believe that just as your room and your blog is representing your character as a person, I believe your notebook is representing you as a psychicic practitioner. Therefore you should invest some bucks into your Moleskine and start customizing it :). Hmm, here’s an idea – check this website and create something similar for people to present their psychicic journals :D. Or make a group on Flicker for this. Hey, just an idea :).

After that, maybe someone will finally start creating groups focused more on off-line meetings (remember the old article I wrote? How to create an off-line psychicic group), from which everything will develop further into more organised community with it’s own subculture?

Ah, sometimes such relaxing and little “fluffy” entries are so pleasure to write :). What do you think? Should we stick with anonymous on-line discussions, or should we go off-line? And what do you think about such subculture elements like clothing or jewellery? :)

For those who didn’t understand – this entry is half-serious half-joke – I wouldn’t mind seeing this little dream come true, but as always – it’s a choice of people themselves.

Answer some questions

First of all, you have to answer a simple question – why do you want to create such off-line group? To gain profit out of your skills? Nah, I don’t think it’s a good idea, regarding the level of the skills one can learn. To help people by secretly performing psychic healing sessions? Weird yet interesting :). Maybe you want to create a group only to develop skills further? That’s also a good idea. Finally, maybe you just want to do some research and experiments, to find simpler ways for learning and developing skills, then share your knowledge with others – also, a good idea.

Finding members

Now when you have a goal, you need to find members. Two members within your group is already a nice number, really – two persons already create a community. First, ask around on psychic-related websites you’re active on – then take a look at Facebook. In both cases what we need is some reliable people who will take things seriously. So, always pay notice to people’s posts – see how much they’re posting, and pay attention to the level of their posts – are they fluffy or scientific? “Shouts” or logical arguments? On Facebook, you can additionally learn more about these people – their skills, interests etc., the point is to gather only people who want to achieve something and won’t be shooting with fireballs ;) – reliable people. When recruiting members for your group, show them an opportunity to achieve huge goals, and learn something new, and help others and all other advantages of such group.

“But what if I don’t have any psychics around me?” – hah, don’t worry, I have few tips for you too – read this article: How to help others discover psychics abilities.

Getting name

Now it’s time to create a name for your psychic club :). A name is giving your group and its members a feeling of identity, and helps recognising you within larger community. Stick to few rules – don’t create a fluffy name like “superpowerful mages of the red dragon”, make something simple and something short, that can be easily embedded into logotype. Finally, make your name easy to remember and recognise – et voila.

Chain of command

You have found members, it’s time to create a proper chain of command. Are your all working to achieve the goal as friends/colleques, or perhaps there is a group leader, then his assistant, chiefs of departments etc? Who’s in charge, and who should just “listen to orders”? :) You have to remember one thing – a group leader is a group leader because he have skills to manage this group, not because he’s a guru of some kind. Within such group, always build your relations based on partnership, never on worship, and remember someone can be higher than you only in case of skills and responsibility hierachy, but all people are equal. If you’re going to create a sect of some kind, I will personaly hit you with that psiball :P.

You need (1) someone to deal with your inventory – someone who can coordinate what equipment your group have in its possession, what books do you have in your library etc. And you need (2) a computer specialist – who can deal with OS’s crashes, search the web, build websites and create graphics etc. You need (3) a person that will make sure you have a fresh supply of coffee in your HQ :P if you want of course.

Come in, HQ!

Now you need an HQ – which one of you have the biggest garage? Hey, why not? Pick up a garage, or a back of your friend’s club or an empty warehouse in your city’s abandoned industry district etc. Or you can just establish a weekly meeting in a McDonald and perform research/experimentation in someone’s home, the choice is yours :). But when you will set your own meeting place in such “garage”, you will be able to bring a lot of stuff there e.g. books, documents, cd’s with Hemi-Sync and everything useful for whole group.

You could create a quiet room with desk, chair, pencil and a piece of paper to perform Remote Viewing sessions. You could create a laboratory section, just don’t blow yourself up, OK? :) If you want, you can create your own website in form of a blog, but I think Facebook Groups will be enough for on-line conversation and coordination, right? They can be set as “secret groups” so no one except you and your members will know about it, useful for keeping things in private. Don’t bother with creating public forums, use these that already exist if you want to “socialize”, use your Facebook group for in-group conversation and if you’re going to publish a research paper, I think you can just create a PDF and then throw it into web licenced under Creative Commons Science licence.

Finances

How are you going to finance your group? Will it be a monthly membership fee of $20 USD, that will be spend for food and coffee supplies for your HQ? Maybe you will be taking donations or using some sources of passive income? Or you will use your other skills to earn money? You need to remember that if you just want to run an unofficial group, stick with your small club HQ, supply it with food and drinks, pay some bills and just discuss & learn, you don’t need a huge budget, and monthly fee will be enough.

Yet if you want to perform more complicated research, or even organize some conferences (why not?), you will have to seriously think about your budget.

Brainstorm!

It is time for some brainstorming – you have a nice group and a nice HQ (I can feel these comfortable armchairs already). So what can you actually do? OK, let’s improve your skills, organize evening telepathic practice session, or RV evening sessions – one person will be assigning coordinates, other will be a viewer. Develop your skills further, get a The Gateway Experience Hemi-Sync cd’s and experiment with them. Make some statistical research on micro-psychokinesis. Use your skills, find someone who need help with disease and anonymously perform a healing session – or find someone who need financial help, gather some dollars and anonymously send them to that person.

Make someone a “community manager”, person to coordinate all group activities, and make someone else a “web hound”, searching the web for everything that might be useful for your group. Just sit there, search, brainstorm, learn and create.

This… is… weird

Yes it is – you might have a feeling already that a lot of the things above are a little… “childish”. Well, you’re right! :) Now one said that off-line psychicic club/group have to be 100% serious, right? Use your imagination, play around like you were a kid again, enjoy your group’s activities. If you can learn something, why not making it fun, too? So, ready – go! Create your very own psychicic group, or just look around – maybe someone already created one around you? Who knows, maybe one day someone will create a directory of such clubs and grups…

The United Psionics Club (UPC) was one of the popular websites in the Online Energy Communities. However, many people don’t truly know how it came to be. After looking over various assumed histories from former members, I realize that the need for a little more information on the site, what happened, what will happen, etc… is pretty much a necessity and owed to the members.

UPC was not an over night creation by any means and the popular website most knew actually came into existence by a series of many smaller and less popular websites that were created some time before. Around the year 2003, Float began to become a regular at various Psionics based websites, more notable was his presence at PsiPog, which in turn created a reputation and life of it’s own through widespread videos demonstrating acts of Psychokinesis. The work ethic, and pursuit of understanding and progression in this field is what commonly earned him either the respect of those who came before, or the suspicions of those individuals who felt for whatever reason that something was out of touch.

Three videos were released to PsiPog from Float, two of which were combined into one video, demonstrating the movement and manipulation of a toothpick. The second is probably one of the most disputed videos in the OEC, that of the manipulation of a quarter inside a glass. The video was actually crated as a favor and because requested, little do most know. With some searching it is plain to see that the most popular of Floats videos were not all of the videos that were created. Several videos were released on various other websites.

Other videos were also created for means of experimentation that were kept completely private. Several videos depicting the “charging” of metallic objects were sent to individuals like Sean (aka Peebrain) of PsiPog.net. So the range and quantity of videos most knew was actually much larger.

Due to his notability for Psychokinesis Media and the ever so obvious urge for beginners and regulars alike to see new, updated, and continued videos and images of psychokinetic events, Float, with the help of AggSk8r (aka FireEye), and PsiLizard (aka Lizard) created a website known as Psi-Media around the year 2004. The website was created for the primary reason of listing videos, images, and games that made the cut. At that time Stony’s site, PsiOnline (was primarily geared towards energy manipulation) as well as Floats site, Psi-Media (was primarily geared towards psychokinesis), seemed to be extremely focused branch websites to PsiPog, as many of the members that went to both were regulars at psipog.

Around the time of 2004-2005 Float began to slowly get over a sort of block in the road and he had begun heavily experimenting with the levitation of various objects. Several in depth conversations about the matter were held with most of the regular members at PsiPog. It was one discussion with DagoRed which actually led Float to continue pursuing levitation. Different theories and ideas were tossed around the air until Dago made a suggestion about a possible way to attempt to do it. The idea sparked similar ideas in Float and they came up with not a method, but a form of application of the skill that one already possessed.

Various videos were created during the practice portraying the tilting of psiwheels on multiple sides, the “lifting” of one side of an L folded paper to result in the paper falling over, etc. The practice continued for a few weeks until finally Float decided that he would go for something a little bigger. While sitting in the chat room at PsiPog, Float was engaged in a conversation about how he was attempting with no real expectations, to make a nickel stand on it’s side. After somewhat attaining success, excitement was shown from a lot of people because what everyone had been working so hard to achieve now had accomplished.

Later, a video demonstrating the same thing with a quarter was created. The video was created to show a few select people, and in it you see minimal results. The quarter briefly and on separate occasions wobbles off of all sides in a seemingly jumping type fashion. No other videos demonstrating this were released.

After Sean had reviewed the video he quickly asked Float for the permission to put it on the website. No choices were made at that time, however a day later the choice was made, granting Sean to publish the video most already knew would create large streams of controversy. The e-mails, forum messages, chat room private messages, etc… began flooding in from all sides, those congratulating, and those questioning.

At this point the buzz in the video was at a high, and PsiMedia was no longer one of Floats interests. He decided that he should expand the website to also make room for articles and a more community friendly environment. The final choice to expand the website was made late 2005. Originally the idea was to just create another website and divert former traffic to the new page, and wait as the website grew. However, it took very little effort to notice the smaller communities that were springing up all over the place as everyone seemed to want to run one. The idea grew from there that they should scoop up a smaller community or two to come along for the ride granting former administrators moderation position, and their moderators, for the most part, would just be out of a job.

PsiLight was a semi-popular website around the general time frame that this decision was made. It was run by SuperNaturalGuy (aka Goober) at the time. It had a somewhat professional layout, not so serious forum, and not very much content but it showed intrigue and commitment to practice. Float decided that because the community was not very large they should consider coming with the now deceased PsiMedia and creating another website to expand the horizons of both sides, gain more content, and be able to effectively do what they had all originally set out to do.

After a few meetings with the main moderators and administrators of the two communities the idea was finalized. Constant brainstorming of the website was done, and the name UPC was chosen by Float. However, the original name was not suppose to be the United Psionics Club, it was originally deemed as the Unified Psionics Community. However, the debate between “club” and “community” was never fully solved as we all enjoyed both terms; in the creation of the new website, SuperNaturalGuy put “Club” in the title and it just stuck. This was fine considering no real choices were made and everyone was happy either way it went.

The website maintained this state for some time.

Float and SNG were co-administrators, and SNG was the lead programmer for the site. It was his original coding that the website used and no one was really interested in manipulating that. Some months passed as the website was still in re-development, as it originally just kept the Psilight Layout. It was a short while before the new and updated website came out, new articles were put up, better forums, new chat, and just like that the website was off to a good start.

Some time later there was an issue, a controversy erupted causing SuperNaturalGuy to leave the website for preservation of his reputation. Float informed the community of what happened, but quickly removed this information after only a day to be fair towards his colleague SNG.

At this point the website was left without a lead programmer. Luckily, a regular member and an individual Float knew for awhile, Vitamyst, was up to the task. Float granted Vitamyst administrative rights and he quickly took on the responsibilities granted to him. Some months passed and the website was slowly gaining momentum. Around ’06 JoeT, a former psipog regular returned to the scene. He remained a regular to PsiPog for some time before creating his own website that was essentially a Parapsychological based Forum, incorporating both scientific and rough psychicic information. Around the time this website was put up, Sean decided it was time to branch out and pursue other things and thus put the community ties to PsiPog to rest, archiving the site.

This was a blow to many of the newer members who felt the strong urge to be part of a community, and so many of the members fled to websites like the Psion Guild, Veritas, Psi Palatium, Psionic Social Club, etc… And of course UPC. At this point in time UPC had a massive surge in new members, so much so that Float decided it would benefit the community to expand it a little more.

He ran across JoeT at some point during that time of pondering and they began chatting with one another. At this point the topic of collaboration was brought up as Joes site was still currently just forum based, and Floats was lacking in some vital content. They decided to teamed up. Joe came along bringing some moderators, none of which received immediate moderation positions and Joe became UPC’s Fourth administrator. Around the same time, the now Goober (SuperNaturalGuy) strolled back into the site and with his return a new layout was quickly put into the works and completed, new content was put up, and the forum and community it self grew in both notoriety and content.

A good run was achieved, and a lot of concentration on advancement, debates, etc… took place in the chat. An “Advanced” section of the website many do not know about was erected around the same time. This housed articles pertaining to subjects like Telepathic Suggestion and the like. The members who had access were those who presented themselves in an intelligent and mature manor, however, some who had access weren’t exactly the most mature. In any event, this section did not last too long before many of it’s content was places back into the general circulation of articles.

At this point the community was doing good with content and new members added and joining daily. However, it wasn’t exactly a happy story from here on out. Float encountered many personal family related issues causing him to go missing from time to time. Some phone conversations were had while Float was away but in general this happened several times. Float was moving around, his access to the Internet was brought down to about two days a week, if that, and it was just a hard time in general to get much done, as no one really wanted to make significant changes to the website without going to him first. The administrators, especially JoeT took control of the website to the best of his ability, which of course had many members happy and some not so happy. But either way it goes, the community was hanging on and still thriving.

Floats on and off time for the website continued from the year of ’07, to the summer of ’07, at which point Float was highly active in the community again. New content was put out and the community as a whole was doing pretty well. At this point, however, Float was also more so concentrating on his pursuit of other areas as he had always been interested in, but it became more of a priority at this point. Psionics was always included, based on the typical use of the word, however, more intrigue on the scientific portion, general metaphysics, and spiritual pursuit was far more important than simply focusing on strict psychics.

This did not affect the UPC community at the time though, however. Float had ambitions of once again expanding the website to broaden the horizons of the members, to allow them to think and not be so judgemental of the many areas that were not even discussed on the site. Some members were not exactly happy about this, others encouraged it. However the knowledge of how to do this was kind of wary. Float brought some other individuals around the site who would help with incorporating other areas of interest, as Float himself wrote articles.

This need for advancement and expansion of the website unfortunately never took place, as Float was struck with a lot of different responsibilities around the fall of ’07. His former plans did not go exactly as expected in his “real life” and he was forced to spend what extra time he had on other things. When he did have free time, the need to get online to a community he knew was simply turning into a run of the mill psychics site, grew faint. He was unable to access the chat room due to network issues and the instances when community members reached out to Float unfortunately were all received late, and when they were received the thought of allowing the community Float no longer believed was benefiting anyone to the extent that they couldn’t receive that same benefit on one of the other larger communities, simply was not present.

Many hours of contemplation were put into the site when Float had time to think it over, but the thought of resurrecting the community was simply not a priority, at least, not in the same form it was before. Around late May ’08 to Mid June ’08 Float returned to the OEC, visiting chat rooms under his common alias, and under forums as a different one so as to be able to express himself without having members regard him as “Float,” who many people held assumptions about what his practice incorporated, and what his time primarily went into. He simply did not want those former name based associations to go along with the experiences and advice, if any, that may have been given.

Upon this return he contemplated bringing UPC back up but changing it and incorporating more things as he planned before. However, unfortunately the entire site was removed from the server, so all the information was lost, including the member database and the articles.

At this point in time the site is no longer around and UPC as it was known before is resting in peace and will no longer be resurrected. A new site may take it’s place, but not in the immediate future. At this point it’s more important for me to continue to focus on my own advancement, so that I can continue to be in a better position to help those individuals interested. Many thanks goes out to all of the regular members, many of whom I cannot remember at the time of jotting this small history up. I apologize for those individuals who feel as though I did not fully incorporate their individual works put in to maintaining the site, however know that I am truly grateful for the years UPC was around and all the work and commitment many people put into it. From advertising, writing articles, media, to regular forum and chat members doing their part to ensure an educated community.

UPC was filled with many kindhearted people dedicated to the advancement of parapsychological research and housed members from all different beliefs, practices, and experience. It was an amazing place to be, however, like many communities it also had it’s fair share of community politics that I am not happy about. Many of the former admins have all been focusing on their other priorities in life but many have also stuck with their practice, whereas others have since “retired,” due to time constraints. The community would have been nothing without the members and admins/moderators who stuck by it. There were ups and downs, arguments and disagreements, but in the end it was one very large, very dysfunctional, very dedicated and motivated family, and anyone who had the opportunity to be a part of it will understand that it will be missed, but it served it’s purpose.

There are many smaller communities that have since been brought up and many ofthe larger ones have just continued to grow. As for the future of UPC, or, rather, what will become? What will stand in it’s place? For now we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but either way it goes, I’m sure it can only be better than what was known before. So to all of you former members out there reading this, forgive me for any details I might have missed over, but I hope this cleared up the assumptions, and some shady areas you might have had, about myself, and the community. Once again, I apologize for anything I may have missed over or not gone into enough, if there is something specific you would like added, you may leave a comment that can either act as an update to this history, or I will add it to it.

Some time ago I wrote an article about spirit guides, resulting in finding my own spirit guide (say hello to Henry heh) – so it’s not just “subconscious” for me any more – it’s something… else. Yet many of you will probably stick with subconscious and that’s OK, because the only difference now is that my “subconscious” have a name – all other rules such as how to communicate with it or how to acquire information from it remains the same. Whenever I will be talking about spirit guides, you will be able to apply my advices and tips in normal communication with subconscious.

Because the only difference is the term – I’m calling it Spirit Guide, while you’re calling it subconscious. And I have a slight different point of view on this matter (it’s caused by me recognising personality of my new friend) – except that everything is the same – and I’m talking about this because I want to point you on few important things.

First of all – open mind – now I’m talking about Spirit Guide, which might sound a little fluffy – I know this because that’s how it sounded to me some time ago when it was just a subconscious to me. But all of us have to keep an open mind – because it sounds like it sounds, yet it’s still just a point of view, as the fundamentals of this matter remains the same.

Second of all – terms – different communities, different groups and different people will have different terms to describe the very same thing – it’s like language – same thing have different names – in order to communicate, you have to have an open mind and learn the names of things in specific language. I’m calling it “pomarańcz”, while you’re calling it different – but we’re still talking about orange – a fruit – round and… orange :).

Open mind and different terms are two things – communication is third. In order to learn new things, and to accept other things that might sound strange to you, you have to keep talking – keep communicating. In my whole short life I’ve learned, that if we have problems, if we don’t understand something, or someone is pissing us off, the best thing we can do is to talk – because only a conversation is powerful enough to break all walls and show the truth to everyone.

So talk, learn and share knowledge – this is communication, and this is a fundamental element of community.

Someone have learned about existence of psychic abilities, he have joined forum, asked few questions, read few articles and he started practising. But after some days, he started to talk with other psychics more often. And “the others” are asking questions – how long are you practising, what skills you have learned, what’s the best skill in your opinion etc.

Very often, person will become frustrated with these questions, because he practised only for few days or weeks – person don’t want to appear like a total newbie, so he is starting to talk like he would be an advanced psychic. But this isn’t the problem – the problem is that this person thinks “this one is better than me, I’m not as good as he is, I will never be as good as he is”. Because our person want to be more advanced than he is just because he is talking with others that appear more advanced than he is, he’s falling into “psychic depression” – the state of mind where he know he is a newbie, and he want to learn more, but he can’t – there’s some kind of a mental block.

Now there are two options – he will continue falling into “PD”, and he won’t learn anything, or he will understand his state of mind and he will break the circle. In first case, he will be a part of community without abilities or with weak abilities. In second case, he will learn a lot, develop his skills, but there won’t be a community “good” enough for him. A community where he can really talk about psychics, and not about “what-are-your-skills”.

I stronly believe that one can achieve a lot in psychics only when he’s not under any kind of influence of psychics community – current psychics community. Community is needed, but not the current kind of community – huge forums are useless in my opinion. Offline groups can achieve a lot more (they are smaller, better organised, and members know each other well), and in case of online communities – a small group with similar interests is more productive than thousands of users on forum, where most people don’t know each other, and they are not very interested in knowing each other (and where some of them are fluffy bunnies).

And it doesn’t matter how often you will try to learn others more closely, you won’t be successful, and a British evolutionist – Robert Dunbar, explains why – it’s called the “Dunbar’s number”:

Dunbar’s number is the supposed cognitive limit to the number of individuals with whom any one person can maintain stable social relationships: the kind of relationships that go with knowing who each person is and how each person relates socially to every other person.[Following Wikipedia]

And this number is about 150.

Do you still remember questions I’ve type as example few paragraphs above? I have never asked them – because I know something others are forgeting about: you’re learning psychic abilities not for community, not for sceptics, but for yourself. I don’t care if you’re practicing, or not. As long as you’re a nice guy (or girl) – it doesn’t matter to me – because you’re learning for yourself. It’s all up to you if you will be successful in your training, or if you will fail, such as myself some time ago. Once again – community exist for sharing information – one need to acquire them first in order to share them.

One can learn something other can’t – one can know something other don’t – we are complementing each other, and this is the true power of a community – and it should be the power of the online psychic community – yet it is not. Mainly because many people in this community wants to do everything by themselves – they don’t want any help – but the state of this community is not the topic of this post. The model of community is – and as I described it, community is created by people, each with different experiences, different knowledge and abilities. Members of this community are complementing each other. If you’re going to create a community – don’t forget about it.

As I said, I believe it’s better to learn psychic powers in groups – but it won’t be a secret to say that right now it’s difficult to find others interested in psychics, especially if you don’t live in US ;). But there is one more thing – if you already passed the beginner state, is it better to continue being active within psychic community, or would it be better to leave it and go your own way – develop further alone?

I cannot answer you to this question, I cannot give you any tips in this case – but I can tell you what I think, and what is my little philosophy – Ravens sticks together, an Eagle is gliding alone…
