What I keep in my paranormal investigator bag

Nathaniel, February 4th, 2010

Today as a way for you to relax, I’m posting different kind of article. Have you ever wonder what shamanist or paranormal investigator keeps in his or her bag? Because I’m both shamanist and paranormal investigator, I can answer both questions.

Primary gear

  1. Black photobag that was originally used to carry camera gear is now in use by me to carry things needed in the field.
  2. Cinnamon sticks are being used for shamanic purposes, it is said they can increase vibration of energy body, I’m using them for psychic work (and sometimes for coffee)
  3. Leather bag for runes – I’m a runecaster, I cast runes, therefore I need to carry these with me to do rune readings and ask the stones for advices.
  4. Crystals are used for psychic work. There are some amethysts, some pure quartz and some mahogany obsidian for.
  5. Incenses for supporting my work with disembodied entities such as spirits or negs. They help me get into trance state, in meditation, and often I use them to cleanse whole buildings.
  6. Leather straps, wood and stones are used for making new talismans, amulets, runic scripts and telluric symbology.
  7. Medicine bag is my personal shamanic talisman. It contain some herbs and crystals, and it acts as protection against evil spirits.
  8. Digital Voice Recorder is used for recording interviews with witnesses and in experimenting with Electronic Voice Phenomena.
  9. Batteries for flashlight and digital voice recorder, you can’t have too many of them when dealing with paranormal.
  10. Pipe and magnifying glass, they’re always helpful in the field, trust me :).
  11. Flashlight, because you never know when the lights will go down. It’s classic maglite bought on Amazon.
  12. Moleskine notebook – in my opinion the best notebook on this planet. The most important thing in my bag, it contains psychic and occult knowledge important when dealing with negs, spirits and other entities.
  13. Knife is used for cutting leather straps and making new runes. It’s also used for rituals of different sort. I also carry second knife for more earthly purposes, such as cutting cables :).
  14. Wind Chimes are used for making noise. For some reasons, they generate type of sound negs and evil entities don’t really like. Often used for cleansing house of negative energies.
  15. Zener Cards used for testing psychic abilities.
  16. Pentagram pendant & Amethyst pendant, both used for protection against negative entities.

What else:

  • Runic cards when I don’t have time to cast runes made of stone.
  • Paper clips to clip hold different things together, not necessary pieces of paper.
  • Pendulum for divination purposes.

My area of focus during paranormal investigators might seems to be occult-focused based on the content of my bag, but in reality, it is not. All that occult stuff is used only if I’m dealing with disembodied entities, which in reality isn’t happening all the time ;). What do you think, you like it?

  1. Just out of curiosity, what does the pipe and magnifying glass do for you?

  2. Umm, you know – I use pipe to smoke sage, and magnifying glass to magnify things :P. Mainly letters in books. OK, to be honest – that magnifying glass is more like cool gadget :)

  3. You should have a multitool! You never know when you may need one, and they're just awesome.

I also like using electrical tape to do quick bindings/small circles and other weird random things in addition to, well, using it as tape. It is a good electrical insulator, and also functions well as an energetic insulator.

  4. Thanks for suggestion – yes, I'm thinking about getting multitool, it's just that I have a lot of other things in my to-buy list I can never find budget for this little tool.

Electrical tape – it's not on the photo, but I have hidden deeply inside my bag, too!
