Psionics was fun, but it isn’t any more

Nathaniel, December 10th, 2009

Sitting on lecture at University, I’ve been inspired to write another article for A State of Mind, this time about subject I haven’t talked about for quite some time – psychic development. You know, psychics was fun in the past, but it isn’t any more. ‘Then‘ the community was awesome, now it’s just boring, or should I say – too childish?

Exactly, let me explain. For me psychics was fun when I was young. A community of people with not too ordinary hobby – exploring psychic phenomena, energy programming, tons of techniques, sharing knowledge and experiences. It was like living in a world of fiction (a metaphor of course), a world of great adventure. But I kept growing older, some things have changed, my point of view matured a lot, and very little remained from young Nathan :). Well, beside the fact I still love to collect and share knowledge.

But techniques, articles, community? All these elements in my current point of view are much more complex and require a little more text than usual to define them. First of all, let me say this: in my opinion, ‘old’ psychics (as seen for example on PsiPog.net) is useful for young people only, around 14-18 years old. The older you become, the more complex point of view you require.

Techniques – when young, all you need is basic information about the ways to draw psychic energies and manipulate them inside and outside your body. When getting older, you need to keep learning about different techniques and systems, much more complex, and analyse the ways they interact with each other – otherwise you will get stuck and won’t make any progress, because basic articles about basic techniques are enough only for few first months of psychic development.

Articles – how-to content isn’t enough for people who want to learn something more. When getting older, you don’t want to read about yet-another-energy-drawing technique, you want read about similarities between New Energy Ways and Tai Chi Chuan :). You want to explore the psychics as psychics science, not just ‘psychic abilities for kids’ :), and more than that, you want to learn where to look for additional information about something more than just psychics.

Community – it’s directly related to techniques and articles about these techniques, at first it’s pretty cool to read about people using basic techniques and sharing their own experiences. But with time, you want something more, you require something more to move on; you need people who explore different areas of the supernatural and share their completely different knowledge and experiences, so you can merge these and add them to your own point of view, and by doing this, by adding new elements to basis of psychics, creating something completely new. Constant questions about psiball, let’s say this – it’s boring :).

Your point of view should mature along with your age. Does it means that when you’re getting older, exploring psychics stops to be fun? Not at all, it’s just that along with exploring new fields of knowledge, you need to find methods of having fun in this new field you’re exploring. Talking about psiballs isn’t fun any more, but exploring different aspects of energy theories might become quite fascinating :). But this way of thinking leads us to something important. Such websites like old PsiPog or still active Shifted Perspectives should remain open for people. But every young person growing with these sites should remember that one day they will have to move on further, as such sites are targeting only your people, at least in my opinion. But is there any good website for more mature explorers of psychics?

Which remind me… Maybe I should think about creating “A State of Mind: Kids” sub-blog?

One comment so far for Psionics was fun, but it isn’t any more

  1. Hi Nathan. There are some psi communities out there with somewhat older members, who post articles and discuss more complex topics. For example, there’s the Veritas Society (http://vsociety.net), which has had many discussions exactly on things like the similarities between psi and Tai Chi, and has a typical member age more around the mid 20s.

I hope you find renewed interest. :)
